Repeated natural disasters and the fear of inevitable natural calamities brought pessimism to the human village.
A heavy atmosphere swirled throughout the village.
However, it wasn't a sense of despair.
It was more of a feeling of stagnation, as if no matter what people did, their future would remain unchanged.
"Whatever!"
I felt as if I could hear a voice saying this, though I'm not sure who it was.
That's right, if nothing changes, then surely it doesn't matter what we do?
That's right, we just need to live more ephemerally.
Gradually, the villagers' hearts became liberated, and at the same time, order fell into disarray.
There were those who saw this from a different perspective: religious leaders.
Religious leaders sought to take control of the troubled hearts of the people.
This was an opportunity to restore order and simultaneously gain faith for themselves.
A monk who built a temple in Gensokyo, a Taoist priest who abandoned the mundane world in pursuit of immortality,
and a shrine maiden seeking restoration.
They each resolve that now is their time to step in.
Now, armed with their own beliefs, they'll fight in an appealing manner and compete for popularity!
