This long umbrella was made by Makita Shoten, a long-established Koshu-ori umbrella fabric manufacturer with a history of over 150 years since the Edo period, using traditional yarn-dyed weaving techniques. With its good coloring and luster, it reflects the wearer's complexion attractively.
The fabric is woven using a yarn-dyed technique called Gunnai Orimono, and each piece is carefully manufactured one by one. Everything from weaving the fabric to sewing and assembling is made by craftsmen.

[Introducing Makita Shoten] We were founded in 1866 in Nishikatsura, Yamanashi Prefecture, at the foot of Mt. Fuji. We are one of Japan's leading manufacturers that use the latest technology and traditional techniques to handle everything from fabric production to umbrella assembly. The fabrics are made from threads vividly dyed with water from the melting snow of Mt. Fuji, and are produced in collaboration with local fabric weavers as well as our own large-scale jacquard looms, one of the largest in Japan.
