Confused, the two try to return to where they came from, but are attacked by mysterious creatures. Rei awakens to his supernatural powers and fights to protect Mirai. However, his powers go out of control and he ends up killing Mirai himself. In his despair, a demon whispers to Rei: "If you reap the souls of the dead floating in the other world and offer up the tears they shed in pain, you can resurrect the dead Mirai." Rei makes a deal with the demon for his sister, and steps onto the stage of a life-risking battle.
