The bottle filter removes 15 substances, and the carafe filter removes 12 substances*. The powerful ion exchange resin removes not only carbonate hardness (liquid scale) but also metals such as copper and lead. Microcarbon pearls made from activated carbon and coconut shells remove substances that may impair the taste of water, such as chlorine and chlorine compounds. Brita recommends changing the micro disc every four weeks, assuming a daily consumption of 5.3 liters. Because filtered water is chlorine-free, it has a shelf life of one day. Any unused water can be effectively used by feeding it to plants.

BRITA Japan Co., Ltd. conducted testing at a third-party organization in Japan to determine the removal of PFOS and PFOA, a type of PFAS (fluorinated organic compounds), in accordance with the "JWPAS B.210 Standards for Testing Methods for Water Purifier Removal Performance, etc." established by the Japan Water Purifier Association. The results confirmed that the product was able to remove over 80% of PFOS and PFOA.
