Plain Mario and his unique friends embark on a great adventure.
Story: Mario arrives in Thug Town after receiving a letter from Princess Peach asking for help with a treasure hunt. However, Princess Peach is nowhere to be found. Searching for clues about Princess Peach, Mario visits Professor Frankly, a treasure researcher in town. He learns that the "1000-Year Door" leads to the treasure, and that seven "Star Stones" are needed to open it. Believing that pursuing the treasure will lead to Princess Peach, Mario embarks on an adventure through the paper world in search of the Star Stones, accompanied by Christine, whom he meets in town. It seems that not only Mario, but Bowser is also searching for Princess Peach...
The stage for Mario's adventure is a paper world full of encounters and surprises. As he visits, he'll encounter a giant dragon, residents suddenly turn into pigs, and incidents on the train. He'll encounter places that seem impassable at first glance, but Mario will open up a path using actions unique to paper, such as using his thin body to fit into narrow gaps or transforming into a paper airplane to fly through the sky.
A diverse group of unique companions to join Mario on his adventure. Mario will meet some unusual characters along the way, such as Christine, who will provide information about the people, places, and enemies around him; Nokotaro, who is skilled at diving into shells and ramming; and Clouda, who can create strong winds to blow away nearby objects. They will become his allies and help Mario on his adventure with their various abilities and personalities.
Crazy Theater Battle: Collide with an enemy on the field to launch a turn-based command battle set in the theater! Mario can choose from a variety of actions, including "attack," "item," "special move," "defense," and "appeal to the audience," depending on his strategy. By pressing the button at the right time to attack, the damage dealt to the enemy will increase, and the audience will join in, making the battle more exciting.
