About our workshop: Since ancient times, jade has symbolized wealth and power, reserved for only the chosen. Jade magatama and other jade beads have been excavated from Jomon period ruins in Japan, and the legend of Princess Nunakawa, associated with Itoigawa jade, is even recorded in the Kojiki, Japan's oldest historical record. Many gemstones are used simply as ornaments, but jade is not just that; it is said to have been used for a variety of purposes, including in rituals to offer prayers. Overseas, jade has been used as a material for ornaments and furnishings due to its beauty, but it is also used as a stone with mysterious powers to heal the body and as a spiritual stone to enchant.
It is also an interesting stone, as it is used for similar purposes in far-flung places, such as in arts and ceremonies. What kind of power did ancient people feel from jade? Japan is said to have the world's oldest jade culture, dating back to the Jomon period 7,000 years ago. We work daily in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, with the mission of spreading the wonders of Itoigawa jade, which has been treasured since ancient times, and conveying Japan's jade culture to the world, on a par with the Mayan and Incan civilizations. We hope that the works of our workshop will be of use to you.
