Brand Introduction

Hamilton was founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. The brand's first pocket watch, the Broadway Limited, gained fame as a tool (Watch of Railroad Accuracy) for providing accurate train times.

In 1914, Hamilton was selected as a supplier to the United States Air Force and in 1919 began providing services for ski race timing and the American Postal Service.

In the 1930s, it was used as the official watch by many airlines, and in 1947, during World War II, it temporarily suspended public sales and produced nearly one million military watches.

In 1970, it introduced the world's first digital watch, the Pulsure, and in 1977, it was acquired by the Omega-Tissot-Lanco group, SSIH. The company was integrated into SMH in 1983, and Hamilton is currently positioned as a brand under the Swatch Group.
