Content introduction
★A Brahms masterpiece composed by two respected masters. A rare combination of Bartok and Prokofiev for Serkin.
Speaking of Rudolf Serkin's recording of Brahms' Piano Concerto, the stereo version recorded with Sell/Cleveland Orchestra in the late 1960s is the definitive recording from the analog era. Although both songs were recorded in stereo with Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra, Serkin's strong attachment to both works can be sensed in the fact that he decided to re-record them with different co-stars (each was the last of the four official recordings left from the SP era). A masterpiece in which the pianist, conductor, and orchestra work together as one to passionately sing Brahms's Romance. Coupled with rare recordings of Bartok and Prokofiev's piano concertos that record Serkin's modernist side.
