The rim of the glass is decorated with a four-leaf clover, a symbol of good fortune, love, sincerity, and hope. The clothing patterns that were popular from the Kanbun to Genroku periods are known as "Genroku patterns," and are typically large, gorgeous designs such as cobblestones, Benkei stripes, checkered patterns, uneven patterns, kanoko patterns, uroko-tsunagi patterns, and hammered wheels. This piece uses the cobblestone pattern to create a gorgeous finish that evokes the image of Genroku culture.
Edo Kiriko began in the Edo period and has been designated a traditional Japanese craft as a precious art that conveys the life of Edo to the present day. All pieces are handmade one by one by skilled craftsmen.
