The Urakaze was the 11th Kagero-class destroyer and was completed at Fujinagata Shipyard on December 15, 1940. It fought in numerous major naval battles, including the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway, the Battle of the Philippine Sea, and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. On November 21, 1944, while escorting the battleships Kongo, Nagato, and Yamato from Brunei to Japan, it was torpedoed by the American submarine Sea Lion in the Taiwan Strait and sank along with Kongo. The torpedo was fired at Nagato but missed its target. This kit allows you to build a more detailed Kagero-class destroyer by combining it with the new equipment set NE05, "1/700 Japanese Navy New Ship Equipment Set 5," included with this kit. This kit includes one ship. You can choose between a surface or full-hull model during assembly.
